Counselling & Family Support

Counselling for Separation, Co-Parenting & Family Conflict
Gold Coast, Brisbane, Northern Rivers & Online Australia-Wide

When family life feels tense, overwhelming, or stuck in repeated conflict, having the right support can make a real difference.

At TruePath Parenting, I offer counselling-informed support for individuals and families navigating separation, co-parenting challenges, and ongoing family conflict. I work with clients across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Northern Rivers, as well as providing online counselling throughout Australia.

A Steady Space to Work Through What’s Difficult

Separation and co-parenting challenges often come with more than just practical decisions. Communication can break down, emotions can run high, and even small issues can escalate quickly.

Counselling provides a space to slow things down.

This is not about revisiting every past conflict. It’s about understanding what is happening beneath the surface—and building more effective ways to communicate, respond, and move forward.

How Counselling Can Help

Counselling and family support may be helpful if you are:

  • Navigating separation or parenting arrangements on the Gold Coast, in Brisbane, or the Northern Rivers

  • Experiencing ongoing co-parenting conflict or communication breakdown

  • Struggling to manage the emotional impact of separation

  • Concerned about how conflict is affecting your children

  • Feeling stuck in repetitive patterns that don’t improve over time

What We Focus On in Sessions

Sessions are structured, guided conversations designed to support both practical change and emotional understanding.

Depending on your situation, we may focus on:

  • Improving communication and reducing reactivity

  • Understanding patterns that contribute to conflict

  • Supporting emotional regulation during difficult interactions

  • Strengthening co-parenting dynamics

  • Helping children feel heard, safe, and supported

  • Developing practical strategies for managing ongoing challenges

The goal is to create meaningful, sustainable change—not just short-term fixes.

Individual & Family Counselling

Individual counselling provides a private space to reflect, process emotions, and develop strategies for managing separation, co-parenting, or family stress.

Family counselling offers a supported environment where family members can be heard, improve communication, and work through challenges together.

Sessions are available:

  • In person (Gold Coast / surrounding areas, if applicable)

  • Online via secure video across Brisbane, Northern Rivers, and Australia-wide

A Counselling-Informed Approach

My work is informed by ongoing training and my Master in Counselling, alongside my experience in family mediation and parenting coordination.

This allows me to support both:

  • immediate issues and decision-making

  • and the deeper patterns that contribute to conflict over time

You’re not just supported through what’s happening—you’re supported to change how things continue.

Keeping Children at the Centre

Children are often deeply affected by family conflict, even when they are not directly involved. When communication improves and conflict reduces, children benefit through greater stability, emotional safety, and consistency.

This work is always grounded in what supports your child’s wellbeing.

Counselling Across the Gold Coast, Brisbane & Northern Rivers

I work with individuals and families across:

  • Gold Coast

  • Brisbane

  • Northern Rivers (including Byron Bay, Tweed Heads, Ballina and surrounding areas)

Online counselling is also available for clients anywhere in Australia.

Book an Initial Counselling Session

Your first session is an opportunity to talk through what’s happening, identify what needs to change, and begin developing a clearer path forward.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start.

What This Work Helps With

When Family Counselling May Help

Families seek support for many different reasons, particularly during times of transition or ongoing conflict. Family counselling may be helpful when:

  • Communication within the family has become strained or difficult

  • Parents and children are struggling to adjust to separation or family changes

  • Conflict between family members is affecting the wellbeing of the household

  • Co-parenting tensions are impacting the children

  • Family members feel misunderstood, unheard, or disconnected

  • Parents want support creating a calmer and more supportive home environment

Seeking support is not a sign that a family is failing. Often it reflects a willingness to strengthen relationships and find healthier ways of moving forward together.

What Sessions May Focus On

Family counselling sessions are guided conversations designed to create emotional safety and improve understanding between family members.

Depending on your family’s needs, sessions may focus on:

  • Strengthening respectful communication

  • Exploring underlying feelings and concerns within the family

  • Supporting children to feel heard and emotionally safe

  • Developing practical strategies for managing conflict

  • Improving co-parenting dynamics and cooperation

  • Building empathy and understanding between family members

Sessions are paced with care and guided in a way that encourages openness, reflection and constructive dialogue.

Individual Support

There are times when having a space to talk things through on your own can be incredibly valuable. Individual sessions offer a supportive environment where you can reflect on your experiences, process emotions, and explore challenges at your own pace.

Whether you are navigating separation, managing co-parenting dynamics, or feeling overwhelmed by family conflict, these sessions focus on helping you gain clarity, strengthen emotional resilience, and develop healthier ways of communicating and responding.

The aim is to support you in feeling more confident, calm and grounded as you move through this period of change.

How This Supports Children

Children are often deeply affected by family conflict or separation, even when they do not openly express it. When families improve the way they communicate and relate to one another, children benefit greatly.

Family counselling helps create:

  • Greater emotional safety for children

  • Reduced tension within the household

  • More stable and cooperative co-parenting

  • Healthier communication patterns that children can learn from

  • A stronger sense of support and connection within the family

By supporting parents and family members to work through challenges in a constructive way, the wellbeing of children remains at the centre of the process.
